Wickersley Sixth Form was delighted to welcome prospective Year 12 students for its annual Induction Day on Friday 19th June, giving students an exciting insight into what they can expect when they begin their Sixth Form journey in September.
The day began with a welcome address from our Head of Sixth Form, who introduced students to the values, opportunities and expectations that make Wickersley Sixth Form a thriving and supportive community. Students were given an overview of Sixth Form life, including the wide range of academic, enrichment and leadership opportunities available to them over the next two years.
One of the main aims of the day was to ensure our future students felt fully prepared for the transition into post-16 education. Students received important enrolment information and guidance about GCSE Results Day, helping them understand the next steps in securing their place and preparing for the start of the new academic year.
One of the highlights of the day was the House Reveal. Students discovered which House they would be representing during their time at Sixth Form and were introduced to the friendly competition and sense of community that sits at the heart of the House system. Following the reveal, students took part in House events, providing a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, build friendships and develop teamwork skills.
Throughout the day, students also attended lesson taster sessions in their chosen subjects. These sessions allowed them to experience Sixth Form learning, meet subject teachers and gain a deeper understanding of the courses they will be studying. From engaging discussions and practical activities to thought-provoking challenges, the taster lessons provided an exciting glimpse into the academic opportunities ahead.
The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with the Sixth Form environment, connect with future classmates and begin their transition with confidence and enthusiasm.
Mrs Cruise, Head of Wickersley Sixth Form, said: “Our Induction Day on Friday was a huge success! We provided our future students with an excellent introduction to life at Wickersley Sixth Form. It was fantastic to see so many young people engaging with their chosen subjects, meeting future classmates and experiencing the supportive and ambitious environment that makes our Sixth Form such a special place to study. The enthusiasm, maturity and positivity shown throughout the day were exceptional, and we are delighted to welcome this talented group of students as they prepare to begin their Sixth Form journey with us in September.”
A big thank you as well to our current Y12 students who helped the day run so smoothly and represented Wickersley Sixth Form so well.
We wish all the students who attended yesterday all the best of luck in their GCSEs and we will see you in September.
