Single/Double
WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?
This is a good course to study alongside other AS or A levels, if successful it is equivalent to one A level. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Cambridge Technicals in Sport and Physical Activity focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand.
What will I study?
Year 1 (Single)
- Unit 1: Body Systems and the effect of Physical Activity (Exam)
- Unit 2: Sports coaching and activity leadership (Coursework)
- Unit 12: Sport and exercise nutrition (coursework)
Year 1 (Double)
- Unit 1: Body Systems and the effect of Physical Activity (Exam)
- Unit 2: Sports coaching and activity leadership
- Unit 6: Group exercise to music
- Unit: 13: Health and fitness testing for sport and exercise
- Unit 7: Improving fitness for sport and physical activity
Year 2 (Single)
- Unit 3: Sports organisation and development (exam)
- Unit 11: Physical activity for specific groups (coursework)
- Plus 1 unit from either: Biomechanics of sport and physical activity, organising sports events or Sports injuries and rehabilitation
Year 2 (Double)
- Unit 3: Sports organisation and development (exam)
- Unit 4: Working safely in sport, exercise, health and leisure (exam)
- Unit 10: Biomechanics and movement analysis
- Unit 11: Physical activity for specific groups
- Unit 17: Sports injuries and rehabilitation
- Unit 11: Physical activity for specific groups
How Will I be Assessed?
Single
2 exams; 1 in January of Year 12 and 1 in January of Year 13.
Double
3 exams; 1 in January of Year 12, 1 in January of Year 13 and 1 in June of Y13.
All other units are coursework units with a mixture of written assignments, practical work, presentations, and posters.

Four coursework units
DOUBLE
For the diploma suite, you will be assessed by exams and coursework. There are 11 units of work, 3 exam units and 8 coursework units.

Level 2 Pass or grade 4 in PE is desirable.
