How to Apply
Applications for September 2025 will open in November. Shortly after students have submitted their applications, they will be invited into school to discuss their option choices with the sixth form team.
The minimum qualification for entry into Wickersley Sixth Form is five grade 4s at GCSE (or equivalent), including Maths and English. There are specific entry requirements for certain subjects, please see our admissions policy or contact us for more information.
A student who does not achieve a grade 4 in their Maths and/or English GCSE will be required to resit these as a condition of their offer. We recommend that students who achieve a grade 4 resit Maths or English to secure a grade 5 during their time in Sixth Form.
Once you have applied, you will be invited to an interview with a member of the sixth form team to discuss your subject choices. If successful, you will be given a conditional offer to study with us, your offer will become firm once you have received your GCSE exam results and have enrolled with us in the summer.
Further entry tests will be set in each subject in the first weeks of the course in September, this will be taken into account in assessing a student’s suitability for the course.

Communication to Applicants
Preparation for September
- Our teachers have put together a collection of induction activities that students can access at home, online, before September. Each subject has a designated folder on our Google Drive, which includes various activities for students to complete at their own pace. We have sent instructions via email on how to access these resources.
- Students should research the subjects they have opted to study with us. If you explore our website, you’ll find a detailed description of each subject that we offer, including a video explaining the topics that will be studied. Students should use the summer to read around the topics that they will be studying in September – an ideal head start!
- Did you know that students with clear career goals and aspirations perform much better than students without? Websites like this [LINK: https://www.ucas.com/careers/buzz-quiz] are useful for suggesting career paths that students may not have considered. Students should spend some time over the summer researching and getting excited about their future!
