Y12 Politics Rotherham Town Hall Trip

On Monday 2nd February, Year 12 Politics students visited Rotherham Town Hall to meet the Mayor, Rukhsana Ismail.

During the visit, students took part in a Q&A session, asking thoughtful and challenging questions about local democracy, the demands of the role, and the Mayor’s extensive charity work and personal educational journey.

The group also enjoyed a guided tour of the Town Hall, learning more about the building and the history of Rotherham. It was a fantastic morning, and the students were a real credit to the Sixth Form.

Students left the visit with two key messages from the Mayor:

  • Positivity: Rotherham is an incredible place, with inspiring people making a real difference in their community.
  • Local democracy matters: It is powerful, inclusive, and capable of creating meaningful change.
