On Monday 2nd February, Year 12 Politics students visited Rotherham Town Hall to meet the Mayor, Rukhsana Ismail.
During the visit, students took part in a Q&A session, asking thoughtful and challenging questions about local democracy, the demands of the role, and the Mayor’s extensive charity work and personal educational journey.
The group also enjoyed a guided tour of the Town Hall, learning more about the building and the history of Rotherham. It was a fantastic morning, and the students were a real credit to the Sixth Form.
Students left the visit with two key messages from the Mayor:
- Positivity: Rotherham is an incredible place, with inspiring people making a real difference in their community.
- Local democracy matters: It is powerful, inclusive, and capable of creating meaningful change.
