Y13 Biology Trip

Year 13 Biologists recently attended a tissue transplant workshop at Sheffield Hallam University, gaining hands-on experience with scientific techniques linked to the Biotechnology section of their A-Level course. This is a fantastic example of the Wickersley Partnership Trust Enrichment Promise, giving students meaningful opportunities to apply their learning beyond the classroom.

During the workshop, students carried out PCR and electrophoresis experiments to determine which donor kidney would be the best match for a patient. They also attended a university lecture, providing insight into university life and what studying at this level might involve.
