A-Level Drama Trip to London

A-Level Drama and Theatre students recently enjoyed a fantastic two-day trip to London’s West End and South Bank. As part of WPT’s Enrichment Promise, this experience gave students the opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom and take part in high-quality cultural and creative enrichment.

During the visit, they watched two productions – The Importance of Being Earnest at the Noel Coward Theatre and the acclaimed real-life drama Punch at the Apollo Theatre.

The students also took part in a practical workshop at Pineapple Studios, led by actor Elizabeth Ayodele, where they explored character dynamics using extracts from The Importance of Being Earnest. In addition, they toured Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, learning about the unique performance space and gaining insights into what theatre and society were like during the late Elizabethan and early Jacobean eras.

Y13 students will now analyse Punch for their final written examination, while Y12 students will use inspiration from both productions to support the creation of their own original devised drama work.

Well done to all those who attended!
