Visit from University of Cambridge Student & Staff

On Tuesday, Y12 and Y13 A-Level Physics students had the opportunity to hear from and speak to two former Wickersley students who are currently at the University of Cambridge.

Joe Stanley left Wickersley in 2012 and is now employed as the School’s Liaison Officer for Selwyn College at The University of Cambridge.  Joe was able to offer students valuable insights into the University application process, including tips for interviews and personal statements.  Our students were able to ask questions about what universities, including Cambridge, found most valuable in applications, something very useful to our Y13 students, who are in the midst of writing their University applications.

Rachel Incley left Wickersley in 2020 and is about to begin the fourth year of her integrated Master’s degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, having done incredibly well to achieve a First Class in her first three years.  Rachel spoke about her experiences of going from A-Levels to University, including her experiences of applying for different courses and different universities.  Our students gained a better idea of what university life entailed and the exciting challenges that awaited them.

We thank Joe and Rachel for their time, and know that our A-Level Physics students have benefitted from their input and advice.
