WHY STUDY THIS COURSE?

This is a good course to study alongside other AS or A levels, if successful it is equivalent to one A level. Designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Cambridge Technicals in Sport and Physical Activity focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Single:
2 exam units, 1 in each year 
  • Body Systems and the effect on Physical Activity (Year 12)
  • Sports Organisation and Development (Year 13)
 
3 or 4 coursework unit across the 2 year 
  • Practical Skills in Sport and Physical Activities 
  • Organisation of Sports Events
  • Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation 
  • Sports Nutrition 
  • Physical Activity for Specific Groups 
 
Double: 
We either complete the sports coaching pathway or the Personal training pathway 
 
3 exam units – 1 in Year 12, 2 in Year 13
  • Body Systems and the effects of Physical Activity (Y12)
  • Sports Organisation and Development (Y13)
  • Working Safely in Sport (Y13)
 
Coursework Units will include 
  • Sports Coaching and Activity Leadership 
  • Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation 
  • Physical Activity for Specific Groups
  • Health and Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

SINGLE

Two exam units

Four coursework units

 

DOUBLE

For the diploma suite, you will be assessed by exams and coursework. There are 11 units of work, 3 exam units and 8 coursework units.

WHERE CAN IT LEAD?

These qualifications aim to develop students’ knowledge, understanding and skills of the essentials of Sport and Physical Activity. Students will gain an insight into the Sport and Physical Activity industry. Designed in collaboration with industry experts the qualifications focus on the requirements that today’s employers demand.
