Our year 12 students have taken part in our careers week and enjoyed a number of sessions during the week to prepare them for Post 18 choices.
On Monday we had a visit to AMRC to find out about their apprenticeship opportunities followed by a practical session on interview skills and cv writing.
On the Tuesday we had a number of masterclass sessions for students to find out more about degrees from creative industry to nursing.Our potential medic students took part in a practical session having a go at suturing and how to inject a patient.
We had visitors from Sheffield University, Huddersfield University, Northumbria university, Newcastle University and Sheffield Hallam during the week informing students on how to effectively prepare for University. Students found out about employability opportunities, how to write a good personal statement, preparing for University life.
On Thursday we also had visitors from AMRC, The source, KPMG and Santander informing students about apprenticeship opportunities and employability. Students had a chance to feed 5 for a fiver with our independent living cooking session and planned out food for a week on a budget of £30! Students also found out about student finance and budgeting.
On the Friday our Year 12 students attended the UCAS convention at Motorpoint arena where they had the opportunity to speak to representatives from all of the different universities.
